JARDIM DE ROBERTO BURLE MARX  -  CASARÃO DE 1837

Roberto transformed the old drying coffee yard into a garden with 5 reflecting pools, stone sculptures, 19 waterfalls and 2 pools, divided into 3 different levels. The water that nurtures the garden was diverted from the old coffee washer (which still exists). The swimming pools water comes from another source. They are natural running water pools , and the children's swimming pool has a sculpture of millstone and a fountain.

The project is a late 70's work and it took about 10 years between its creation and completion. It is a garden in constant motion, which changes at every season without losing its charm and splendour and is undoubtedly one of the most complete and expressive works in Roberto Burle Marx's oeuvre.

The gardens maintenance is under supervision and guidance of Haruyoshi Ono and guidance of Technical Agronomist Jorge Sakai.

“…A garden needs more than flowers and plants. It needs music and sounds. This is one of the reasons why I love this garden - the sound of running water is always present..."
